The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American Football team which is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are members of the East Division of the National Football Conference in the NFL. The Eagles made two super bowl appearances and lost both, and this was against the Oakland Raiders (1980) and the New England Patriots (2004) they have won three NFL championships.
For decades now the Philadelphia Eagles colors were Kelly green, white and silver. In 1954, the Eagles was the second team alongside the Baltimore Colts in the NFL to put a logo on their helmets, the Kelly green helmet had silver wings. In 1969, the team had two helmets, Kelly green with white wings during the road games and a white with Kelly green wings at home. Since 1948 to 1995 the team logo was an eagle that was in flight and carrying a football in its claws. In 1969 to 1972 the eagle design was similar to the Apollo 11 emblem.
In 1996 the Kelly green color was changed to a much darker shade, the silver color was abandoned as they changed their pants color to either white or the midnight green color. The wings on the helmet were changed to white color with silver and black accents. The Eagles logo combination was also changed with the eagle being limited to a white head that was more of cartoon based styled, and the letters changed from calligraphic to block letters. The Eagles wear their white jerseys at home games or preseason games and in the first half of the regular season when the temperature is warmer.
